Travel theme: Contrast

This week Alisa’s photo challenge is “contrast.” A few years ago my husband and I spent ten days in Oaxaca, experiencing the textiles, the ruins, and  life-altering tlayudas (a local street food).

We’ll start with the obvious. Oaxacans know how to use color:

Building in Oaxaca, Mexico

Stuccoed b56uilding in Oaxaca, Mexico

Textiles from Teotitlan del Valle.

Textiles from Teotitlan del Valle.

The other contrasts were more subtle, such as this clash of new meets old:  modern street art with a very contemporary message (a protest against Monsanto, perhaps?) against an old stucco wall and a very old cobblestone street, situated in a valley that has been inhabited by humans for over 12,000 years.
